2008 in photos


What: Thought I'd post some highlights of 2008 in photos. According to my Picasa photo library 2008 has brought 2594 photos in 27 albums taking up 5.1Gb of disk space. Anyway, 2008 has been a great year with the obvious highlight being our wedding. Here's to 2009!

The highlight of 2008 by far was our wedding. This is right at the start of the day with Mark and Steve outside our flat

Our first dance. This was one of the most nerve-wracking parts of the day. We had practiced quite a bit to stop me standing on Jill! Jack Johnson's Better Together was the tune
Jim from Athens, Georgia came over which really made the day. Jim has been so good to me over the years it was great to welcome him to Edinburgh finally
Of course getting married gives you a great excuse to go on a big holiday afterwards! We made the most of it by visiting Borneo, both in a resort and trekking through the jungle.

The other development of 2008 was the rapid, and unwelcome, expansion of a double chin :-(
Crossing the Sulu sea to the Borneo islands
One of the islands off the coast of Borneo.
A green turtle retreats to the sea after laying its eggs on the beach. It was actually worth getting up at stupid 'o' clock to see this, it was an amazing effort for this beastie
Probably Borneo's most famous resident, the Orangutan. This one is in a rehabilitation centre for orphans. So cheeky, just like a human toddler.

The summer took a bit of a turn during a July softball game when Jill and I both ran for the same ball and crashed. Oops. Jill ended up with some uber bruising while I broke my wrist and had to get pins put in. At least I don't beep at security checkpo

A surprise trip to Georgia in September with Mark led to a trip to Downtown Atlanta
Centennial Olympic Park
No trip to Georgia would be complete without a couple of flights in Jim's plane! Certainly got around on this trip to Columbia and Miami.
