About Steve Dalgleish
esspeedee is primarily freelance web designer and developer Steve Dalgleish (SPD hence the name of this site). Steve has been online since 1995 launching his first web site in March 1996 – a small hobbyist site. Steve holds an MA (Hons) in Management from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh which included courses in business strategy, marketing, law and project management.
He has worked on many online projects in various roles from consultant to running the project. Examples of online projects include devising and implementing a strategy to best develop the web site for a professional american football team; transforming the business of a small sports retailer into a major player in the online sports retail market; devising and launching an online presence for a photography business and a leisure industry business.
Following a period working freelance, Steve joined the marketing department of Edinburgh based law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn where he has worked to redevelop their online resources. Steve has worked on online campaigns, web site redevelopments, intranet redevelopments and knowledge management projects during his time with the firm. The firm’s “don’t stand still” online campaign was awarded Marketing Campaign of the Year 2006 by the Managing Partners’ Forum.
Now in the IT department at Shepherd and Wedderburn, Steve has led a project to install an enterprise portal to effectively manage the firm’s information and improve business productivity. Recent work has included developing a bespoke Client Relationship Management system to allow the firm to manage relationships with contacts and clients to develop new business. A recent winner of an Intranet Innovation Award for frontline delivery, Steve has gained a reputation for taking difficult concepts and data sets and presenting them in an intuitive and user-friendly way.
Steve continues to speak at conferences on various topics regarding intranet strategy, development and user behaviour which have been well received.
